Every other year in August a carpet of begonia blossoms is created in front of the Grand-Place of Brussels, Belgium. Over 700,000 gorgeous begonia blossoms are packed together to create a 77 x 24 m design. It's better to book in time if you want to attend this flower carpet event. It's very crowded and all the hotels are taken.
Be there to see something magical.The cobbled stone floor of Brussels’ famous Grand Place has sprung a flower due to a biennal tradition that was initiated in 1971 in honor of begonia, Belgium’s favorite flower. Most tourists go to the Grand Place to enjoy the view.The present carpet spread over 2,000 m2 is adorned by various logos intending to symbolize the Belgian presidency of the European Union. Each square meter holds about 300 begonias individually placed by more than 100 craftsmen.
